PETROLEUM LAW AND COMMERCIAL CONSTRUCTS AND NEGOTIATION OF TRANSPORTATION, HANDLING AND SALES AGREEMENTS

COURSE OVERVIEW & LEARNING OUTCOMES

Many O&G industry professionals, especially those in (quasi) commercial roles, carry out functions that have consequential legal implications for the organization. More often than not, they also interface with their legal department and that of their partners/customers. A more than pedestrian knowledge of legal constructs and their interpretations is important to avid serious legal jeopardy.


This course introduces participants to petroleum law, enhances their knowledge of petroleum contracts and commercial constructs in the gamut of the O&G value chain. During this five-day training program, participants will learn the practical aspects of petroleum law, how to read and comment on legal documents, procedures and regulations and best to interface with and help the legal teams. Amongst others, the training includes a journey through the legal/ commercial documents, issues and mitigations starting from entry through development, production, negotiation of transportation and lifting and sales agreement, and eventual abandonment of hydrocarbon acreages. Particular focus is placed on highlighting the more important legal and commercial issues encountered at different phases of the petroleum business.
