GAS LIFT DESIGN AND OPTIMIZATION

COURSE OVERVIEW & LEARNING OUTCOMES

This course focuses on gas-lift design using hands- on graphical design methods (based on API RP 11V6/19GB and API Gas -lift manual), gas lift surface facilities, surveillance, automation, trouble- shooting and optimization for better economics.   Excel spreadsheet programs will be used in class to buttress theory including gas lift performance models. Emphasis is also placed on surveillance as the starting point for all activities on the wells. Use of dynamic models will be demonstrated in class to show how automation can be used to assist with production surveillance.

  • Understand the technical and business case for artificial lifts systems; flow and lift processes focusing on gas lift design, troubleshooting and system analysis.

  • Identify, diagnose, analyze, and solve gas lift problems.

  • Understand the surface facilities necessary for effective gas lift operations

  • Trouble shoot and prescribe interventions to gas lift equipment problems

  • Understand surveillance requirements including monitoring systems and sensors gas lifts  and modifications required for different well conditions
